Power Supply

The power supply in Chile is 220 volt, 50 Hertz. The Chilean electrical plug/socket is type L10A (Italian standard).

Time

Local Time in summer is GMT (-) 3 hours.

Currency

The Chilean peso ($) is the official currency. Foreign currencies such as US Dollars and Euro are not normally accepted, but can be converted to Chilean pesos in bureaux de change and banks. Credit cards are accepted only in major hotels, restaurants and main shops.

Personal safety

Although Santiago is a safe city for foreigners, it is recommendable that you pay attention to your personal belongings and try not to walk alone at nights far away from the place you are staying in.
